Imaginary Friend / Tarpeia
Is a tulpa a kind of imaginary friend?
The Imaginary Friend is one of the phenomenon names in psychology and psychiatry, academically referred to as an Imaginary Companion (IC). The Tulpa is also said to be a manifestation of a few conscious thoughts, taking on a form different from its original. While it may be similar to an Imaginary Friend, the Tulpa itself is considered by its creators to be a type of Imaginary Friend that possesses a relatively autonomous will, or so it is believed, or not.

Issues
Tulpents often take on the appearance of real individuals or copyrighted characters, which can lead to problems. For instance, when exploring heavily moderated creative spaces and attempting to post the content as videos, the moderators may block or ban the user, particularly the owner of the tulpent, due to its appearance. This act of forced exclusion from the community is what is referred to as a 'tulpent hunt'.
